Orphaned Pumpkins

The picture above is a pumpkin I carved a few years ago. The stencil patterns turn out great. Although the picture is a little blurry, I think you can still tell that it is a witch (but which w(h)i(t)ch is it).

So far this year, I've carved somewhere around six pumpkins. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them from my manfriend. Most of them turned out ok. I bought the first set of pumpkins at the grocery store, Kroger, about three weeks ago. I bought several more at Walmart. They were cheap but the selection sucked and you had to dig through moldy pumpkins. The last set of pumpkins were purchased from orphans.

The orphans had a pretty good selection and the closest thing you'll find to a pumpkin patch inside atlanta. Well aside from the pumpkin vine that was growing inside the fence of the power plant next to my sweetheart's place. The orphans were nice, but not one of them was smiling. The crazy, not all there orphan lady master smiled a little too much. We wheeled a little cart around the pumpkin patch, selecting everything from white to wart covered pumpkins. They had pumpkins with largest stems I've ever seen. Trust me, you would not want to sit on one of these stems. $60 later we left with 8 pumpkins. It all goes to the orphanage so I didn't mind paying a little extra. We wheeled the cart filled with 8 fairly large pumpkins up the steep gravel driveway back to my car. After unloading the pumpkins I realized the cart had a flat tire. I busted out my tire pump from the trunk and filled that sad little wheel up. It feels nice to help out every once and awhile. Helping orphans, that's got to be my good deed for a few months.
