Day One

The drive up to DC was easy. I split the drive with one of my friends. She drove from Atlanta to North Carolina, near the Virginia border. I drove us the rest of the way. We got to the outskirts of DC around 5 o'clock and luckily decided not to follow google maps. Instead of trying to get on the belt and then take 66 west, we got off at 644 and followed our instincts.

We took the train into DC around 7 pm. After wandering around a bit, we ate at an Indian restaurant. I've only had Indian once before, at a buffet. I really liked the food and luckily opted for something a tad less spicy than vidaloo chicken.

We headed to JR.'s after dinner. It's an OK gay, video bar near Dupont Circle. I randomly met someone from Atlanta, John. I was talking to his friend Mike about the fact that you can't smoke in the bars :( in DC. (It's actually okay by me that smoking is banned inside bars.) Mike found out that my friends and I were from Atlanta, so he introduced us to John. They seemed nice, but I didn't really have much to talk about.

Tomorrow, my friends and I are going to head into town to look at memorials, monuments, museums, etc. We'll probably come back to the hotel before heading out to some bars. I don't know anything about DC, so it's a gamble as to which bar we'll end up at.
